The President of Kosova, Vjosa Osmani, spoke last night after the signing of the ‘Peace Board’ in Davos, where she signed alongside Trump and other countries, in a moment she called historic for Kosovo.
In a live broadcast for ‘Top Story’, Osmani indicated that the US has not requested any financial contribution from Kosovo as a member, adding that today gives the country the opportunity to strengthen itself in the international arena.
“We received the invitation on January 20, and the moment we received the invitation to join as a founding member of the Peace Board, we also received the invitation to be in Davos for the signing. After the invitation from Trump to be among the signatories led by the US, we traveled to Davos, but we will return after midnight. It is a day of historical importance, for us as a state, membership in any international organization is important, for us as a state this gives it a greater historical weight, the strengthening of our international weight. This gives us an opportunity to be equal among free nations, not to block the potential of Kosova.
Even in the Charter of the Peace Board, but also in communications with the White House, we have not been asked for a financial contribution. The Charter of the Board is very clear. The functioning of the organization will depend on voluntary contributions. We have discussed more about giving our contribution. Kosovo is an excellent example of peacemaking and democracy building. Because we were a country that emerged from war and we built institutions from scratch, we can make a great contribution, it will be an important contribution”, said Osmani.
Osmani also added that she is very happy that Kosova will be together with Albania alongside the USA, a moment that is also important for the factorization of the Albanian nation within such an organization.
“For us it is very important that Albania is also invited, that we will stand together alongside the USA, we can cooperate and factorize the Albanian nation even more within such an organization”, said Osmani.
