On Sunday, September 14, 2025, in front of the Special Court building in The Hague, a nationwide protest is expected to be held, one of the largest gatherings of Albanians in the diaspora against the judicial processes against former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), writes Gazeta Metro.
The protest has been organized by the Organization of KLA War Veterans (OVL-KLA) in cooperation with the Albanian diaspora in Europe and is expected to begin at 2:00 PM, while the Dutch authorities have granted official permission for its development.
OVL-KLA has announced that the protest aims to oppose, according to them, the one-sided processes of the Special Court, which according to the organizers represent obvious injustices against former leaders of the KLA and attempt to distort the history of the Kosovo liberation war. The chairman of the OVL-UÇK, Hysni Gucati, has stated that all preparations have been made and that the organization does not seek mercy, but justice for the leaders of the KLA. He adds that the protest was requested by their comrades in exile, especially in America and Europe, and that the organization has given it full support with all its capacities.
According to Fatmir Koci, a representative of the Albanian diaspora, individuals are not being tried in The Hague, but the just struggle for freedom and the very statehood of Kosovo is being tried. He calls for citizens and institutions to be together before the Court to show that Kosovo does not accept injustice. Meanwhile, Memli Krasniqi, chairman of the PDK, emphasizes that the party’s structures in exile, activists and citizens from the diaspora and Kosovo will be there to raise their voices for the just struggle of the KLA, remembering that it remains the foundation of the country’s freedom.
The protest is expected to be peaceful and massive, with participants from Kosovo, Albania, North Macedonia and other European countries, organized through diaspora groups and transport lines. The Albanian diaspora has been preparing for weeks, organizing trips by buses, private cars and chartered planes, to ensure the participation of the largest possible number of citizens.
National flags and banners with the messages “Against injustice, for the truth of war”, “The KLA is glory, not indictment” and “Today the KLA, tomorrow our history” will be the main symbols of the protest. Organizers emphasize that this rally is not only an expression of dissatisfaction with the judicial processes, but also a powerful manifestation of Albanian unity, where the voice of citizens from Albanian lands and the diaspora unites in a common goal: the protection of historical truth and the dignity of freedom fighters.
This protest aims not only to send messages to international authorities, but also to raise public awareness of the values and sacrifices of the Kosovo Liberation Army, recalling that its struggle was just and necessary for the country’s independence. The organizers emphasize that any attempt to criminalize the KLA is an attempt to distort history and undermine national unity.
The protest’s message aims to reach not only the citizens of Kosovo, but also the international public, demonstrating a clear commitment of Albanians to justice and the recognition of historical truth. This rally heralds a powerful manifestation of Albanian solidarity, showing that the diaspora and the homeland are united to defend one of the most important values of Kosovo: the struggle for freedom and justice of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
