The Electoral Complaints and Appeals Panel (ECAP) yesterday made a decision in favor of the political entity Serbian List, approving the appeal of this entity against the decision of the Central Election Commission (CEC) for the non-certification of its list of candidates for the local elections of October 12, 2025.
With this decision, the ECAP has annulled the CEC decision of August 21, in which the CEC had refused to certify the candidates of the Serbian List due to the assessment that some candidates did not meet the legal criteria to be part of the electoral race.
According to the ECAP’s reasoning, the CEC’s decision was not properly based on the law and it was not convincingly proven that the candidates in question are in violation of Article 29 of the Law on General Elections, which sets out the criteria for the right to be elected.
The ECAP has requested the CEC to certify the list of candidates of the Serbian List for the municipalities where it has applied to participate in the local elections.
